This display features a bunch of stunning Morpho menelaus menelaus.
Although a little smaller than the Morpho didius, they are a bit more
metallic and iridescent. You have the option of purchasing a randomly
scattered vertical or horizontal flight (above), or an inline horizontal
or vertical flight (which you will be able to select when you order.) In the random flights the butterflies are
mounted on various sized rods and angled in every direction so they are
pointing all over the place in a 360 degree 3 dimensional display. This
3 dimensionality is impossible to see in the above photo.
In the inline flights below, the bottom morpho in the flight is mounted on a 1/4 inch rod and the height of the rods increases 1/4 inch for each level so that the top butterfly is on a 1 1/2 inch rod. The horizontal flight will have the same type of rod feature, while the random displays will use random heights. Important: These iridescent morphos are very difficult to photograph, they're more blue and less green than the above photo. They're also uniformly iridescent, any dark areas in the photo is simply due to the angle at which the picture was taken. |
