Butterfly Facts
Butterflies are actually classified as insects, meaning they have
six legs, and three body segments which are the head, thorax and
the abdomen. The three most salient features of the butterflies
head are the antennae, the eyes, and the proboscis. The antennae
or vital to their survival because they are used for balance in
flight, as well as for olfactory sensation.
A butterflies fragile wings are covered with scales. Even if
the majority of a butterflies' wings are destroyed in an attack,
they can still fly and navigate because of their antennae. There
